  • A month-long step challenge with prizes for participants who log the most steps*
  • Photo Contest on Twitter in support of heart health
  • Yoga classes*
  • HeArt Therapy Event*

Go Red!

go redGo Red for Women is the American Heart Association's national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women. Join us in supporting this movement by wearing red on Friday, Feb 7, 2020. 

Participate in our photo contest to win prizes!

How to play:

  1. Wear red!
  2. Upload your photos to Twitter with hastags #GoRedforWomen and #UMNHeartMonth 
  3. The 3 participants with the most likes on Twitter win a UMN can cooler!
  4. Participants in the Biodiscovery District will also receive fun door prizes!



Step Challenge

trophyGet Moving! Join us for a step challenge and track your steps during February, a.k.a. National Heart Month. The participant with the most steps wins a fab trophy!

Check in each week with your total so far and get a weekly update on the competition.

To qualify for the competition, registration is required.
Register now! Deadline for registration is Feb 1, 2019.

The Challenge applies to all steps taken during the month of February. Unles you're using the InKin app, you will get an email at the end of the month asking for your steps total.

Cardiovascular Benefits of Mindfulness-Based Stress Relief

Recently published research conducted by Assistant Professor of medicine Pabhjot Nijjar, MD, et al, concluded that mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) is a "safe and well received secondary prevention strategy for cardiac patients." Dr. Nijjar will present his research and its broader implications for cardiovascular health in this seminar for a lay audience.
